I watch the fires, the bush gone up in flame And judge the wind, the distance from my house, The closed roads, the friends trapped by the same Whilst those in power laud the quiet mouse. I see the farmers walk dry river beds And cities cloaked in smoke, the air too foul The soil that blows away beneath our treads Bourne by the wind’s unseasonable howl. The climates change, and we can’t change as fast, And those who pursue wealth, their only goal, Will buy their air, their drink, their rich repast, And will they say “No food? Let them eat coal.” How then, to those in power, can I explain That all the money in the world cannot buy rain?

It was an impressive space, he had to admit. Even if it was familiar and familiarity bred contempt, the design of the auditorium was sweeping and majestic, capable of housing hundred in its seats and with the kind of carefully arranged acoustics that rendered the PA system and microphone all but unnecessary. That didn’t mean that Admiral Adrian West was particularly looking forward to having to spend the next hour or so sitting in it.
At least these days he got a front seat, and with a nod to his colleagues he lowered himself into a seat between Admiral John Matthew Everington II
My Seneschal's Advice
For Lorelein del Isola; it's all her fault.
When I was just a newcomer, all polyester gowned
With sleeping bag and bell-shaped tent for Festival was bound.
My Seneschal came up unto my fellow newbs and me
A caring soul she did impart these advices three.
The first advice she gave to us was all about the water.
"If you would avoid the St John's tent then hydrate well you ought to (oughta).
I know alcohol's attraction, for I have been there too
But rybald claim and daring deed when morning comes you'll rue."
Her second piece of good advice led on from the first.
"Strong drink is a mocker, you will go from bad to
This morning as the west winds blow
Across the mountains, scents of snow
Are carried down the valley, chill the ground;
The leaves are turning, most have fled
The dusty grasses as if dead
The turning Earth brings frosty Winter round.
Brisker breezes, hill-top snows
Barren branches, frozen nose
The morning grass with bright frost sparkling;
A cleanness in the frozen air
A crisp beauty, I should be fair
And guiltily try not to wish for Spring.

This year I am going to write. And draw. And stop playing so many computer games.
I am starting by doing some Star Trek fanfiction, because Trek never fails to inspire me. Thus Star Trek: Aurora has started. This is a crew of original characters set in the main time-line Star Trek universe. I am starting with some character-developing vignettes, and once I have a feel for them I intend to write some episodes. I also plan to draw them.
The hope is that this will get me comfortable with writing solo once more, and then I might even take a stab at writing a book.
Happy New Year everyone.
Yup, Summer's here with a vengeance. It's almost Christmas and then the new year.
I have not been submitting much art recently, because I have been dissapointed with the quality of my work, and I am trying to learn to use Corel 11 which is proving to be very different from my old program, although it has lots of potential.
So I have decided to go back to basics. I have my old art books out and am currently doing figure studies, with lots of reference to `AdorkaStock (https://www.deviantart.com/adorkastock). If the figures are good enough then I will ink, colour and post.
I don't draw enough to improve at the moment, so my New Year's resolution is going to be to change that.
Yay, out of hospital. Spinal surgery appears to have been a success so hopefully it's just a matter of recovery time. Since I have to spend that quietly I guess it gives me more time for drawing!
